EXCURSION TO ENGLAND
Under the hospice of His Eminence the Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios

Holy Metropolis of Demetrias is organising an excursion to England from May, 26, to June 3, 2000, under the hospice of His Eminence the Metropolitan of Demetrias Ignatios. The excursion aims, beside visiting the important sites of England, mainly to get to know better Orthodox England and to meet the monastic communities and parishes, but also the priests and bishops, who serve the orthodox english world.

The programme is as following:
The group will leave Volos on May 26 and depart from the airport of Thessaloniki for London the same day. From London there will be a bus to Shrewsbury, where the participants will meet orthodox priests and an anglophone orthodox parish. On Sunday, May 28, they will depart for Oxford, where they will visit colleges, churches and orthodox parishes and participate at the annual meeting of the friends of the Mount Athos (United Kingdom), but also meet Bishop Kallistos (Ware) of Diokleia, an important english theologian.

On Tuesday, May 30, the group will leave for Essex, where they will be welcomed at the Orthodox Monastery of St. John the Baptist and visit the tomb of its founder, Father Sophronios.

From Thursday June 1st, to Saturday, June 3, the participants will stay in London and visit the important sites of the capital (British Museum with the Parthenon marbles, Buckingham Palace, etc.). They will also visit the Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sophia and the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of all Saints. They will be met by the Archbishop Grigorios and the Metropolitan Antony (Bloom).

The participants will return to Thessaloniki and Volos on Saturday, June 3rd.
