Monastery of Saint Lawrence
In the village of St. Lawrence of Pelion there is the Pilgrimage of St. Apostolos the New. He is the local miracle-working new martyr of the years of the Turkish domination. He endured martyrdom in Constantinople on August l6th,1687. Éç the place where his paternal house was, a magnificent church has been built today in which his venerable Skull is preserved. Both local people and foreigners venerate it with great piety. Ïn his feast day August l6th a great celebration occurs with the participation of thousands of pilgrims from a11 over Thessaly. Our local saint is a wonder - worker. And our people call upon him especially when they are ill.

At the exit of Volos towards the east there is the Pilgrimage of Panaghia Gorßtsa or «Trypa» . Á natural cave in the cliff near the sea offers hospitality to the picturesque little chapel with the icon of our Panaghia. Many people customarily go to church there, enjoying the awesome compunctionate Services. There is a Confessor Priest at the disposal af the pilgrims at all times. Supplications, vigils and other Services are celebrated daily or when the occasion calls. At the edge of the sea this Pilgrimage with its captivating atmosphere offers opportunities for spiritual ascent and physical relaxation.

Én the north of Agria - the picturesque littfe town in the east of Volos - there is the Pilgrimage of the 12 holy Apostles. Built ïn rock its church gathers people who prefer to combine prayer with the enjoying of nature.Thanks to the honorable attempts ot its Board the church offers a contemporary equipment, interior adornment and opening areas for refreshment.
