HISTORY
The Subsequent years
The area came to know many conquerors. The Goths (396 A.D.) the Slavs (6th century) the Saracens, the Franks (1204 A.D.) and the Turks (1428) leave their traces as they pass through, but they do not manage to change its personality. The local inhabitants become frightened, abandon their homes and ascend to Mt Pelion. They are forced to accept foreign toponymies, they go through repeated «Babylonian captivities» but they do not submit. During the years of the Turkish domination Pelion enjoys some freedom. It is under the protection of the queen, Valide Soultana. Thusits inhabitants develop activities, they
cultivate letters and create a civilization.
