ADMINISTRATIONThe Churches of VolosVïlos is famed for its large, beautiful, and well built churches. The distinguished architect Ar. Zachos built St. Constantine, St. Nicholas, and the Transfiguration in Volos. Works of unsurpassable skill which the love of the Volos siders provided with frescoes subsequently wood carvings and a rich inner adornment. Brilliant are the marble sculptures and the mosaics of St. Constantine, the Byzantine frescoes of St.Nicholas, with the Platytera by Ag.Asteriadis, the charming wood carvings of the Transfiguration. Én New Ionia the Annunciation by the toil and labour of the refugees from Ionia who when they came here brought with them their icons as safeguards. They built it with the clay buckets on their shoulders, the women offering their jewellery, while the men offered their donations. The courtyards of our churches, being spacious, are offered for rest for the elderly, amusement for children. Én many of our parishes parish centers function for the young. Homes of Christ's Calmness for the elderly, social protection and concern. Our parishes are cells of Iove for the fellow man. Like bees they gather people of all ages. Children, parents, elderly. Áll find their comfort there. The annual festival of our Christian Youth in our National Stadium is a proof of the wider work which takes place within the youth. Who ever saw a priest in a discotheque? Who ever saw a priest on the soccer pitch? Who played with children? Who discussed their problems with them? Who strengthened them in creative activities? In Volos one can answer "Yes" to the above mentioned questions. Yes the Church here deals with the youth because she wants them to be free, responsible, and important.
