ADMINISTRATION
Our PriestsIn Holy Metropolis of Demetrias there are 178 priests and 9 deacons in service.
23 of the priests are monks and 155 priests are married.
3 deacons are monks and 6 are married.
Most of them (135) have a degree of Theology or the High Ecclesiastical School, others have graduated from High School (29) and very few of them have only graduated form the primary school.
In Holy Metropolis of Demetrias there are also 3 preachers who do not serve in a particular parish.
Finally, in this district there are 12 priests who are pensioners.
GATHERINGS OF THE PARISH PRIESTS OF THE COUNTRYSIDE.
For the parish priests of the countryside pastoral gatherings are periodically organized, directed by the Bishop. They offer chances of spiritual discussions, exchange of opinions and giving instructions about spiritual, administrative and social subjects.
EXTRAORDINARY GATHERINGS.
In periods, when opportune issues are rising, priestly gatherings are extraordinarily called, under the presidency of the Bishop.
CONFESSORS' SEMINARY.
A special training seminary for confessors exists.
RITUAL SEMINARY.
There is a special seminary about ritual, good order and ethics, which is in function mainly for the parish priests of the countryside.
TRAINING OF YOUNG PRIESTS.
There are regular gatherings of the young and recently ordained priests, concerning today parochial pastoral issues.
FUTURE PRIESTS' GROUP.
SPECIAL LESSONS FOR THE FUTURE PRIESTS.
According to our Bishop's decision, apart from the regular lessons, there are also extra lessons for the students of the fourth class of the Ecclesiastic Lyceum of Volos, which are future priests. The teachers are theologians - priests of the Holy Metropolis.
